The Colonne Serré is a parade formation where the squadrons of the regiment are extended to full company length, the second company behind the first.  As illustrated to the right, squadrons are echeloned with the regimental trumpeters to the front.  

Dimensions of this illustration approximate the actual formation (differences in screen dimensions will alter this perspective.).  Width of this formation is 48 meters excluding the officers on the periphery; the formation has a depth of 54 meters, excluding the trumpeters and officers.  The distance between the heads of the squadrons is 16 meters.

The illustration below shows the position of the officers and cuirassiers of the first squadron of the regiment plus the regimental trumpeters.
