3eme Cuirassiers

Cuirass et Fraise

Return to the 3eme Cuirassiers home page

Our reproduction cuirass and lining are custom made, representing the 2nd model in use from around 1807 through 1812.  As with the original, the front piece of the reproduction cuirass is slightly thicker than the back piece.

The cuirass is padded on the inside and has a lining (fraise) attached.  Shown left and right are the front and rear pieces.

Two leather straps with brass scales connect these pieces over the shoulder, and a leather strap at the bottom secures the assembly.

The cuirass illustrated here is an original 1807 model from Nick Serafino's collection - note the groove around the neck to protect against sword blows glancing off the armor.  A variety of sources exist for original and reproduction items - contact Nick Serafino.
