| A suitable cavalry pistol is a difficult item to find. A period item can occasionally be found for $500+ and in varying conditions. Alternately, Palmetto Arms makes a reproduction 1777 Charleville Pistol available from Dixie Gun Works and also from Loyalist Arms. This pistol is nicely finished and functions well. |

| A Charleville kit is also
available from Dixie Gun Works.
Remember, this is a reproduction pistol - while its metallurgy is a higher quality than period items and may be safer to fire, it does have some drawbacks. The pan cover problem described in Chez Nous remains unresolved by the manufacturer (Palmetto) or suttler (Dixie Gun Works), and the ramrod seems to loosen with use and can easily fall out - recommend replacing it with a wooden dowel rod. |
