Portmanteau

Return to the 3eme Cuirassiers home page

The  portmanteau is the cuirassier's baggage on campaign.  It is a soft, rectangular, compartmented box into which he packs essential uniform, equipment, and personal items for use in the field.   On campaign, the manteau (and often other items like tenting) are attached atop the portmanteau by leather straps.  Contact Nick Serafino for suttler information.
Our portmanteau follows regulation design, made of Imperial blue wool, with sides trimmed in white and bearing our regimental number.  It is lined and multi-compartmented, and closes with three leather straps and buckles.
