The Tenue des Cuirassiers specifies the uniform items for every season and dress that used by the 3eme Régiment.  Tenue en Manteau is the same dress with the cape, Manteau

We have chosen summer of 1812 at the height of the cuirassiers grandeur and achievement as the basis for our impressions.  The Cuirassier Uniforms page provides additional information about the history and evolution of the cuirassier uniform.

Tenue Tenue sans Manteau Tenue en Manteau
Le Grande Tenue a Cheval - The Grande Tenue, also called Tenue de Grande Parade, is the full dress uniform for all ranks.  For mounted dress the key components are the Casque with Plumet, Habit with Cuirass, Sabre, Culottes de Peau, Ceinturon, Bottes. grande_tenue_2.JPG (78634 bytes)
Le Grande Tenue a Pied (on foot) is the same Tenue de Grande Parade except sans Cuirass, with the Ceinturon worn en baudrier (over shoulder), and Souliers (buckled shoes) replacing the Bottes.   
Tenue de Campaign is the Campaign Dress or Battle Dress (Tenue de Bataille).  This consists of the Casque sans Plumet, Habit with Cuirass, Sabre, Gants, Surculottes, and Bottes.   TCamp.JPG (96257 bytes) TCampMantSabre.JPG (77860 bytes)
Tenue d’Exercise, also called Tenue d’Instruction, is the Exercise Dress worn for training purposes.  It consists of the Bonnet de Police, Veste d’Ecurie, Surculottes, and Bottes,    
Tenue d’Ecurie is the stable dress typically worn for work detail around the barn, paddock, and similar areas.  This dress consists of the Bonnet de Police, Veste and Pantalon d’Ecurie, and Sabots.  Old Sourliers could also be worn.  
Petit Tenue is the undress or casual dress.  It consists of the Bonnet de Police, Habit sans Cuirass, Wool Culottes, Buckle shoes.   TPetit.JPG (73645 bytes) TPetitMant.JPG (68562 bytes)
Tenue Habituelle is the Ordinary Dress, also called Tenue de Ville (Town walking out dress).   This consists of the Chapeau, Habit sans Cuirass, Wool Culottes, Souliers (buckled shoes).  In Summer (ete) April 1st to October 1st white stockings would be worn. 
Tenue Habituelle in Winter (hiver), October 1st to April 1st, is the same dress worn with dark blue (indigo) stockings.
Tenue de Quartier is dress typically worn around the barracks and billets..  It consists of the Bonnet de Police, Veste and Pantalon d’Ecurie, with either Bottes or Sabots.
